A learning platform SBC from a non-profit that uses proceeds to give these devices to needy children. It is relatively underpowered compared to other SBC options, and the broadcom chip used for the processor is not fully open, but the Raspberry Pi has a very robust and active community that is able and willing to help you learn. This is in my opinion the best SBC for a beginner.
